When There's So Much Upside to Upside Down Cake

Wynwood Kitchen & Bar in South Florida literally flips the script with its whiskey-infused dessert cake

I'll admit it: lately, my sweet tooth has been on Level 10. Whether it's a snack on the plane or an elaborate dessert at a restaurant, I've been very bad about curbing my enthusiasm when it comes to sweets. Enter this insanely sweet coconut upside down cake with whiskey caramel sauce from Wynwood Kitchen & Bar that I ordered late last year. How good did it sound to me? I saw the description on the menu and couldn't resist. And then I saw it. When I say love at first sight, well, that might be stretching it a bit. But using the word lust might be appropriate. It was as decadent as I could've imagined. The cake was soft (could've used the world moist there but a lot of people hate it so I tend to stay away), the caramel was gooey, and to top it all off, there was WHISKEY!!! I'm not sure who came up with the recipe, but whomever it was, they deserve a food prize of some sort. Oh, and a raise, of course. That's a given. I thank them for giving me one of the best desserts I've had in a long time. It's made me want to go back to Wynwood ever since that day. To see the famous walls, sure. But mostly because of that cake. It turned me upside down with joy.
